Busy Boy
James loves to play with his Matchbox cars and really enjoys the car ramp in his room. He would actually really love to have the one from the church but I haven't seen another one like it. For now we find creative things to race the cars on like big boxes, inside empty paper towel rolls, and down Boise's back. Luckily Boise is a really good sport about James and his cars. Boise is still James' favorite toy to play with! :)

Giving Boise some lovin'.
When we moved James into his big bed I fully expected to find him in all kinds of crazy positions but he normally stays right in the middle under the covers. One night last week I did find him about half way down the bed on top of the comforter. We think he had moved down to where he could see us watching a movie in the den and then fell asleep sitting there! Love it!
A lot of people have started asking if I am nesting and the answer is YES! I think it is actually driving Bert a little crazy because I keep doing all these little projects. (At least I am not making a long list for him!) Anyway, Thursday I got the idea to recover my dining room chairs since I had the fabric already. James was my big helper in getting the cushions off of the chairs. This was much better than the help I received in putting together the bookshelf for baby sister's room. That one definitely took longer than the box said it would. I don't think they had a toddler helping them construct theirs when they were timing it!

James' New Room
I finally finished little man's room today! He has been sleeping in there for 2 weeks but I had not finished his curtains and pillow shams. I also had not hung any of his pictures so it now looks much more complete! I am really excited about how cute his room turned out and actually like it better than I liked his nursery. I "recycled" his bumpers and crib skirt and brought his rug downstairs. James seemed to be pretty happy about everything and likes having all his toys in his room too.
The chair will be moving back to baby sister's room but right now with my big belly it is the most comfortable reading spot for me!
James' big boy bunk beds!
I love how cute his pillow shams turned out!
This picture was in Bert's room growing up so he was really excited to have it in James' room. (Bert daily points out the basketball to James!) :) I need to post a picture of the big basketball goal that he also has in his room! I must say that we LOVE this toy organizer. Everything is visible for James but still easy to put away!

New Smile
James had a little accident last week and chipped his front tooth! He fell on the ceramic tile in our kitchen while playing with his best friend, Boise. I was pretty sad for a few days but am over it now and have gotten used to his new smile! :) Just thankful it wasn't any worse! James cried for about 30 seconds and hasn't thought about it since! Guess that is how life works when you are 1 1/2 years old! :)

A big boy bed already?
James moved into his new room on Saturday night. Some of us were excited about it (Bert), some of us sad (me) and some a little scared(James) but we all survived! :) I was planning to wait a few more weeks before moving him but Bert was ready to go ahead and put him downstairs. The room is not completely finished so I am not going to post pictures yet but it is looking really cute!! James seems to like his new bed and has done a good job so far of sleeping all night. We are working on getting him to stay in the bed until we come to get him and I would love for his naps to be a little longer. All in all, it has been a pretty easy transition. It is hard to believe baby sister will be needing his crib in only 2 months!
We lined up the toys hoping they would entertain him when he woke up.

How cute is that little boy sleeping on his pillow and snuggling with his blankie!?!
Last day in his crib. :(

A few random pictures
So none of these pictures will win any awards for the expressions or photography skills but you can at least see what we have been up to lately. We rung in the New Year with the Lees, Pascazios and Weyands for like the 7th year or so in a row. We were sad the Claytons got sick and couldn't join us but are thankful they didn't spread their germs!
Since it has been so cold outside James has had to bundle up more when we are out and about. I think he looks adorable in his new vest and hat but I could do without the pacifier! :)
James has a new favorite snack, popcorn! This weekend we all shared a bag while watching the Backyardigans.
Even though he didn't get to stay up until game time, James still dressed the part to pull the Tigers through a Bowl win!

Santa... I know him!
This year since we were headed to the grandparents house for Christmas Eve and morning we asked Santa to arrive on the night of the 23rd. We had such a sweet time as a family enjoying a small Christmas celebration. It was a lot of fun to see James find his goodies from Santa and enjoy playing with them. It was also nice that he didn't get so overwhelmed with having it all on one day. I am very thankful for this special time with my 2 boys (and Boise) and I look forward to next year with Baby Girl in the mix!
